About Global Mentors Group:
What is Global Mentors Group?
Global Mentors Group is a world-leading independent mentoring organisation for senior leaders. We connect CEOs, Chairs, Board members, C-suite executives and those rising towards it with an experienced community of world-class mentors who have themselves operated at the highest levels. Through us, leaders and their organisations gain access to a trusted partner who has navigated the same pressures, decisions and responsibilities they now face.
How is Global Mentors Group related to CMi, Merryck, Mentore and The Board Advisory Partnership?
Global Mentors Group over the years acquired these four established mentoring organisations, each built on a strong reputation in mentoring, leadership advisory and board-level development.
By bringing these organisations together, Global Mentors Group offers clients unparalleled access to diverse mentoring styles, deep leadership expertise and a truly global reach.
Why were the firms brought together?
Our four firms – CMi, Merryck, Mentore and The Board Advisory Partnership – all of which are leaders in mentoring, were brought together to operate as an integrated platform, focused on helping organisations develop their senior leaders.
Together, we offer a global community of experienced mentors, all of whom have served in business at the highest level.
How does Global Mentors Group differ from other leadership firms?
We differentiate in the following ways:
- We bring together a unique community of experienced mentors within an independent, unconflicted business focused entirely on supporting leaders. At the same time, we make engagement simple and straightforward for our clients
- Our scale and presence in over 30 countries enable us to invest deeply in service. We provide a tailored approach for every engagement, designed and supported by a dedicated professional team.
- Our investment in the mentor community means we can find the perfect mentor, mentors and programme for any individual leader or team.
- We do not believe in transactional relationships; instead, we build long-term, immersive partnerships, ideally spanning generations of leadership. Our aim is to be a trusted ally to Chairs, CEOs and CHROs as they develop the next generation of leaders.
We also know that great CEOs do not seek mentoring only for themselves, they want their businesses and their leaders to thrive.
Do you have a Global Mentors Group network community?
Yes, we bring together our mentors and mentees from across our network, creating a safe space for conversation, connection and perspective. We truly believe that leadership doesn’t have to be isolating.
Mentoring Programmes:
What is mentoring? And, how does it differ from coaching?
At Global Mentors Group, mentoring is a structured, confidential relationship between a senior leader and an experienced mentor, who has sat in the same seat. It provides a trusted space to test ideas, explore complex leadership challenges and strengthen decision-making with someone who understands the pressures and responsibility of senior leadership.
Mentoring commonly supports leaders navigating:
- strategic decision-making
- board and investor relationships
- organisational transformation
- leadership transitions
- stakeholder management and influence
- leadership presence and style
While mentoring draws directly from the mentor’s own experience, coaching is typically delivered by professional coaches focused on behavioural development and performance improvement through questioning and reflection.
Tell us about the structure of your programmes and how long do they last?
An individual mentoring engagement typically involves regular 1:1 conversations between the leader and mentor. These sessions provide a confidential space for reflection, decision-making and leadership development, shaped around the leader’s evolving priorities.
Individual mentoring sessions are typically scheduled every six to eight weeks, although frequency may vary depending on the leader’s needs and their circumstances. Mentors may also provide additional support during particularly important leadership moments.
Depending on the need of our clients, we also offer custom team mentoring solutions, where appropriate.
Is mentoring confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to every mentoring relationship. Leaders can openly discuss sensitive issues, test their thinking and explore challenges in a trusted and safe space.
What types of mentoring programmes do you offer?
Global Mentors Group offers mentoring programmes designed for leaders at different stages of seniority and organisational responsibility, including:

Mentors:
Who are your mentors, and what experience do they bring?
Mentors within Global Mentors Group are highly experienced Chairs, CEOs and senior executives who have led organisations through complex strategic, operational and governance challenges across industries and international markets. You can find a list of our experienced mentors here.
What’s the difference between a CMi, Merryck and a Global Mentors Group mentor?
Global Mentors Group brings together three mentor communities, each offering a distinct mentoring perspective:
- CMi – board-level mentoring from experienced Chairs, CEOs and CFOs
- Merryck – leadership development mentoring focused on leadership style, influence and growth from senior executives, who also have professional coaching qualifications
- Global Mentors Group – international mentors supporting complex enterprise leadership challenges
This structure ensures leaders are matched with mentors whose experience best fits their leadership context.
How are they matched with leaders?
Each mentoring engagement begins with a detailed understanding of the leader’s role, responsibilities and challenges. They are then matched with mentors whose experience, perspective and leadership style best align with their context.
The right chemistry between mentor and leader is considered essential for effective mentoring.
How often can one make contact with their mentor?
At Global Mentors Group, we listen to our client’s needs and establish a cadence that fits their goals. Most mentors meet their mentees formally once or twice a month but maintain contact between sessions, based on what would be the most useful for the mentee.
Do we train our mentors?
Our mentors bring decades of experience at the highest levels, and this is the foundation on which we operate. Having said that, our mentors do go through an onboarding process to align with our standards. We also stay actively engaged with our clients to ensure their goals and outcomes are being met. The Merryck community, who have professional coaching qualifications, undertake ongoing supervision and professional development.
How should success be measured?
Mentoring at a senior level doesn’t lend itself to simple metrics. However, we do measure success through structured check-ins with the mentee or the organisation. We look at whether the relationship is delivering what the leader or the organisation had hoped for and whether the goals are being met. We value our clients’ feedback and listen carefully to address their needs throughout the process. We also consider each mentee’s evolution as a leader, including growth in their thinking and decision-making.
