Dame Alison Carnwath
Overview
Dame Alison Carnwath currently sits as a board member of The EG Group including board membership at Asda Stores Ltd, EG Midco Ltd, an independent Director of PACCAR Inc, a Trustee of The Economist Group, and of LivingBridge, a primary private equity business where she now chairs their Strategic Advisory Board, having chaired the management board and the investment committee over the past 20 years. She is also a Director at Coller Capital, a private equity secondaries business and is a Director at EG Group, a fuel retailing and convenience store business and chairs the audit committee. She is a Founder Adviser to the Board Advisory Partnership Ltd and was closely involved in the creation and delivery of the Chairing in Practice programme.
Alison’s past directorships include Land Securities plc which she chaired between 2008-2018; BP plc Man Group plc; Friends Provident Group plc; Barclays plc; Gallaher Group Ltd, and National Power plc. She is also a past Chair of Vitec Group plc. She is a former member of the UK panel on Takeovers and Mergers.
In the not for profit sector, Alison is a member of the Advisory Council of the St George’s Society of New York. She engages in a number of mentoring assignments both in the UK and overseas. Alison is a graduate and a chartered accountant and has two honorary doctorates.
Alison is also a senior Adviser of Evercore’s strategic advisory business following the firm’s acquisition of Lexicon, where she had worked as a Senior Adviser since 2005. Prior to that, she was a Managing Director of Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette in their M&A department in New York. She was previously a Partner in the Phoenix Partnership, a corporate advisory and private equity business acquired by DLJ in 1997. Before joining the Phoenix Partnership in 1993, she was a Director of J. Henry Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd, the investment banking subsidiary of Schroders plc, specializing in advisory, merger, and defence work for leading UK companies.
