Overview

Frank Pedersen is an experienced international executive with more than 30 years’ experience building and running businesses around the world. He has led fundamental business transformations across transport, building technology, logistics, energy and chem-pharma, including margin growth through global crises, market consolidation and the creation of new businesses to meet emerging opportunities in South East Asia, Europe and the USA.

Most recently, Frank was CEO of Siemens Security Solutions, a €1bn business with operations in 50 countries. Frank began his career as a commissioning engineer on construction sites around the world, gaining early exposure to complex projects and diverse teams. He went on to hold leadership roles across multiple sectors before being appointed CEO of Siemens Security Solutions in 2008. As part of this role, he served as Diversity Ambassador for the Building Technology Division, which had around 50,000 employees. In the midst of the financial crisis, he steered the security business through a major turnaround, making it profitable and cash positive by the end of 2009, largely by helping people focus on their inherent strengths and passion.

In addition to his work as a Merryck Mentor, Frank is a senior adviser to large and small private equity firms and funds, working with both start-ups and established businesses on strategy, growth and leadership.

Frank’s approach combines hands-on operational experience with a practical, impact-focused mentoring style. He works with clients to identify where they can have the highest impact in a given situation, drawing on his background in both product and services, and in hardware and software. Having spent his entire business career outside his home country of Denmark, he understands first-hand the challenges of leading in today’s global, cross-cultural environment. He enjoys the challenge of working with executive teams and believes in making the collective better, not just the individual leader.

Frank brings deep cross-sector expertise in:

• Industrial, building technology & security solutions – leading complex product, solution and services businesses across 50+ countries in highly technical environments.

• Global transformation & turnaround – delivering profitability and cash improvement through crises and market disruption by focusing organisations on their core strengths.

• Private equity & international growth – advising PE-backed start-ups and established companies on scaling, international expansion and value creation.

• Cross-cultural leadership & team performance – building high-impact executive teams and leading diverse workforces across every settled continent.

For the last decade he has partnered with HR People Magazine in Nigeria and was recently presented with an award for “Advancing the Development of Human Resources in Nigeria”. He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Aalborg University in Denmark, a Business Degree from Duke Fuqua School of Business, and a coaching qualification from Ashridge Executive Education.

Meet the Mentors

The Original Mentor

Mentoring has its roots in one of the oldest leadership stories. In Homer’s Odyssey, Mentor was entrusted with guiding the young Telemachus while Odysseus was away — not by directing him, but by offering judgement, perspective and wisdom born of experience. This enduring idea of counsel, grounded in trust rather than instruction, remains the essence of mentoring today.

That same tradition sits at the heart of Global Mentors Group today.

We exist to provide leaders with access to seasoned peers who have walked the path before them, offering the clarity, judgement and discretion required to lead at the highest level.
