Before joining McKinnon, Mike was CEO of HammondCare from 2020, leading a complex aged care and health organisation through a period of significant change and heightened scrutiny. From 2017 to 2020 he was a member of the National Australia Bank executive leadership team, where he led NAB’s global institutional and retail banking businesses. His remit included more than 700 branches, 7,000 bankers, broker partnerships, direct banking and the digital bank UBank, giving him deep experience in customer strategy, digital transformation and culture across a large, regulated franchise. 

Earlier in his career, Mike served in public office as the 44th Premier of New South Wales, representing the electoral district of Manly in the NSW Legislative Assembly. He entered state politics in 2007, holding several shadow ministries before becoming Treasurer from 2011 to 2014 and then Premier from 2014 to January 2017. In these roles he led economic, infrastructure and social policy agendas in one of Australia’s largest and most complex jurisdictions, operating under intense public, media and stakeholder scrutiny. 

He is known for his strong sense of purpose, integrity and commitment to service, and for his ability to build coalitions across business, government and civil society to deliver practical outcomes.
