Overview

Tasmin Little CBE is a renowned violinist, broadcaster and educator whose multi-award-winning international career has spanned more than three decades. As a solo concert violinist she toured globally, performing with many of the world’s leading orchestras in major concert halls and festivals, making 45 commercial recordings and giving numerous world premieres.

Widely respected for her gifts of communication and presentation, Tasmin has long been a pioneer in bringing audiences closer to classical music. In the early 1990s she began introducing works from the stage during performances, helping to demystify repertoire and connect with listeners in a more personal way. Her 2008 project The Naked Violin attracted a global online audience of over half a million within weeks and became the subject of a dedicated Southbank Show documentary. Over a 30-year performing career she appeared 20 times at the BBC Proms, including two Last Night of the Proms performances to a global TV audience of around 100 million and Proms in the Park to audiences of 40,000, and performed twice for HM The Queen.

Tasmin has also built a significant profile as a broadcaster and advocate. She has presented and contributed to numerous television and radio programmes; her 2021 BBC Radio 3 series Journeys with my Violin was widely acclaimed and selected as ‘Pick of the Week’ in The Times.

In early 2026, she made a series of 4 programmes for BBC Radio 3 “Turning the Page”, focussing on the decisions and challenges that classical musicians face when deciding whether to continue their career on stage.

During the 2020 pandemic she was a prominent voice for freelance musicians, regularly contributing on BBC Radio 4 and being cited as one of the leading thought leaders in classical music. A long-standing champion of music education and the arts, she has twice addressed members of both Houses of Parliament on the importance of arts and education in the UK, and in 2019 became Co-President of the Yehudi Menuhin School.

In 2020 Tasmin stepped away from the concert platform to focus on broadcasting, presenting, writing, teaching, mentoring and charity work. She holds a Certificate in Mentoring and Coaching from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and works with individuals and organisations on communication, presentation and self-development, alongside her commitment to improving diversity and access in the arts. She serves as Ambassador or Vice President for a number of charities, including Help Musicians UK, Young Sounds UK, Trees for Music and the Elgar Society, reflecting her belief in the wider societal role of music and culture.

She is International Chair of the Violin at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, overseeing every violinist’s progress and giving regular masterclasses and performance workshops.

Tasmin brings deep cross-sector expertise in:

• Performance, recording & global artistic careers – decades as an international soloist at the highest level of classical music.

• Communication, presentation & audience engagement – pioneering spoken introductions, innovative projects such as The Naked Violin and acclaimed broadcast work.

• Arts advocacy, education & policy influence – active engagement with Parliament, education institutions and public debate on the value of the arts.

• Broadcasting, media & thought leadership – significant radio and television presence and recognised leadership on issues facing musicians and the cultural sector.

Her artistry and reach have been recognised with honours including a Classic BRIT Award, BBC Music Magazine Personality of the Year, a BBC Music Magazine Chamber Music Award, a Diapason d’Or and a Gramophone Award for Audience Innovation, as well as an OBE for Services to Music in 2012 and a CBE for Services to Music in 2024.

Meet the Mentors

The Original Mentor

Mentoring has its roots in one of the oldest leadership stories. In Homer’s Odyssey, Mentor was entrusted with guiding the young Telemachus while Odysseus was away — not by directing him, but by offering judgement, perspective and wisdom born of experience. This enduring idea of counsel, grounded in trust rather than instruction, remains the essence of mentoring today.

That same tradition sits at the heart of Global Mentors Group today.

We exist to provide leaders with access to seasoned peers who have walked the path before them, offering the clarity, judgement and discretion required to lead at the highest level.
