Kurt Sievers
Overview
Kurt Sievers was the long serving Chief Executive Officer of NXP Semiconductors N.V., a S&P 500 company listed at Nasdaq and a global leader in intelligent Semiconductor and SW Edge-AI solutions for the automotive and industrial sectors. He has led the company as President since 2018, and as President & CEO since 2020 and retired at the end of 2025, concluding a distinguished 30 year career at NXP and its predecessor organizations. During his tenure, he guided the company through a period of significant technological, geopolitical, societal, and market complexity. He transformed NXP’s position to a foundational player in the global semiconductor ecosystem, established a new performance culture and grew the value of the company in an impressive way.
Kurt joined NXP in 1995 and progressed through a wide range of senior leadership positions spanning sales and marketing, product definition and development, strategy, and general management. Just ahead of NXP’s IPO he became a member of the Executive Management Team in 2009 and was instrumental in shaping the company’s strategic direction over more than 15 years. He played a key leadership role in the 2015 acquisition of Freescale Semiconductor, a transformational transaction that established NXP as one of the world’s leading automotive semiconductor companies.
During his tenure as President & CEO Kurt led the acquisitions of Marvell’s Connectivity Business, of SW company TTTech Automotive and of the AI start-up Kinara, all strengthening NXP’s end to end platform capabilities. In view of the ongoing fragmentation of the global supply-chains he transformed NXP’s operations into a hybrid manufacturing system including the foundation of double-digit billion Manufacturing JVs with TSMC in Germany and with Vanguard in Singapore.
He has been widely recognized for his focus on trust-based high-performance culture and his ability to combine deep engineering expertise with commercial and ecosystem leadership, particularly in managing global customer relationships and complex supply chain environments.
Beyond NXP, Kurt serves today as the Lead Independent Director of Daimler Truck AG, as Independent Director and Chair of the Compensation Committee at Capgemini SE, and as Independent Director and Member of the Ethics and Governance Committee of Booking Holdings Inc.. He served on the Board of the Global Semiconductor Association, and he chaired the European Semiconductor Industry Association.
He brings deep cross-sector expertise in:
• Technology Driven Strategy & Execution – Defining and implementing long term semiconductor, SW and AI strategies aligned with global megatrends and customer roadmaps
• Complex Business & Portfolio Management – Leading multi billion dollar product portfolios across automotive, industrial, and mobile markets
• M&A and Integration Leadership – Playing a central role in major transactions, including large scale mergers and technology acquisitions
• Global Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement – Working closely with customers, governments, industry bodies, and partners across Europe, the US, and Asia
• Performance Led Culture & Talent Development – Building high performing, innovation driven teams across global organizations
• Financial Leadership – Taking the company private, IPO preparation and execution, building deep shareholder and financial analyst relationships (Wall Street and European markets)
Kurt holds a Master of Science in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Augsburg, Germany. His background combines deep technical knowledge with decades of executive leadership in one of the world’s most complex and strategically critical industries. Known for his collaborative, disciplined, and long term leadership approach, he has consistently emphasized technology leadership, talent development, and ecosystem-partnerships as essential drivers of sustainable growth.
