He served as President & CEO of S&P Global from 2013 to 2024, where he delivered over a decade of strong shareholder value, international expansion and strategic innovation. He initiated and led S&P Global’s US$44bn acquisition of IHSMarkit and its successful integration in 2022. Under his leadership, the company’s market capitalisation grew from $16bn to more than $150bn.

Before joining S&P Global, Douglas spent 26 years at Citigroup in senior leadership roles across Latin America, Asia and the U.S., including CEO of Citigroup Japan, COO of Citibank, and Chief Auditor.

He brings deep cross-sector expertise in:

• Financial services & data analytics – transforming S&P Global through acquisitions such as IHS Markit, Kensho and SNL

• Technology & innovation – leading digital transformation through AI, Cloud and advanced data strategies

• Governance & regulation – extensive experience in crisis management, global risk, audit and systemic stability

• International leadership M&A, and Business Transformation – driving cross-border expansion and complex integrations

Doug contributes widely to global institutions and boards, including the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Bureau of Economic Research, Temasek, Claremont McKenna College, and the Japan Society. He has also serves on UN, World Bank and FDIC advisory groups focused on sustainability, infrastructure and financial stability.

Doug was educated at Claremont McKenna College and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
