Overview

Jacqui Ferguson has over 30 years of international business experience across technology, financial services, energy, utilities and industrials. An experienced Non-Executive Director and Chair, she has held senior roles in global organisations and has lived and worked in multiple geographies, including three years in Silicon Valley.

She is currently Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Croda plc, Senior Independent Director at Softcat and a Non-Executive Director at National Grid. She is also Deputy Chair of EngineeringUK, a not-for-profit focused on inspiring young people from all backgrounds into engineering and technology careers, and has consulted for private equity on the quality and potential of target businesses and management teams.

Previously, Jacqui was Chair of Tesco Bank and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Wood plc. She was a founding member of the Scottish First Minister’s Advisory Board on Women and Girls, supporting efforts to improve gender equality.

Jacqui began her executive career as a technologist after studying computer science, and over time worked across most major business functions. Her executive career spans KPMG, Electronic Data Systems and Hewlett Packard, where she held divisional CEO roles leading large, complex, technology-enabled businesses. She has led teams of more than 10,000 people, managed multi-billion-pound P&Ls and driven change across culturally diverse organisations. A particular highlight was three years in Silicon Valley as Chief of Staff to Chair and CEO Meg Whitman during a pivotal period for the company, overseeing major strategic pivots and restructuring that she regards as the equivalent of multiple “real-world MBAs”.

Jacqui is highly conversant in strategy, transformation, value creation and turnarounds, with significant experience of technology-enabled business transformations across both B2B and B2C environments. She brings a strong strategic mindset that helps senior leaders think through, unlock and reflect on their personal and corporate priorities. She listens deeply, challenges constructively and supports clients to access the best version of themselves, drawing on her own experience of leading at scale and under scrutiny.

Jacqui brings deep cross-sector expertise in:

• Technology & digital transformation – leading large-scale, tech-enabled change across complex global organisations in multiple industries.

• Board leadership, governance & remuneration – serving as Chair, Senior Independent Director and Remuneration Committee Chair for listed companies in highly regulated sectors.

• Global operations & large-scale P&L leadership – running multi-billion-pound businesses and diverse international teams across Europe, North America and Asia.

• Inclusion, talent & gender equality – advancing diversity agendas, shaping culture and supporting the next generation of engineering and technology leaders.

In 2018, she won The Sunday Times “NED to Watch” award in honour of Dame Helen Alexander. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Meet the Mentors

The Original Mentor

Mentoring has its roots in one of the oldest leadership stories. In Homer’s Odyssey, Mentor was entrusted with guiding the young Telemachus while Odysseus was away — not by directing him, but by offering judgement, perspective and wisdom born of experience. This enduring idea of counsel, grounded in trust rather than instruction, remains the essence of mentoring today.

That same tradition sits at the heart of Global Mentors Group today.

We exist to provide leaders with access to seasoned peers who have walked the path before them, offering the clarity, judgement and discretion required to lead at the highest level.
