Overview
Marisa Drew is a global banking and sustainability leader with a 30-year career at the intersection of finance, innovation and impact. She is currently Chief Sustainability Officer at Standard Chartered Bank, where she leads the Group’s strategy on sustainable finance, climate, and broader ESG integration, helping clients and markets navigate the transition to a low-carbon, inclusive economy.
Marisa began her career at Merrill Lynch in 1992 and joined Credit Suisse in 2003 in investment banking. In 2017 she founded and became CEO of the Impact Advisory and Finance Group, building one of the industry’s early, dedicated platforms focused on mobilising private capital to address global challenges. This work cemented her reputation as a pioneer in impact investing and sustainable finance, bringing together sophisticated capital markets expertise, innovative structures and a strong sense of purpose.
Alongside her executive responsibilities, Marisa holds a number of significant board roles. She is a Non-Executive Director of Agronomics, a publicly listed venture capital firm focused on cellular agriculture, and Liberty Global, a US-listed broadband and mobile communications company. She serves on advisory boards for the Milken Institute Center for Strategic Philanthropy and the FCA’s Markets Practitioner Panel, and contributes to several high-level working groups sponsored by the World Economic Forum. Her previous advisory positions have included roles with the Aspen Institute UK, the UN Oceans Panel, Cash & Rocket, The Wharton School and Impact Gstaad.
Marisa is also deeply engaged in philanthropy and ecosystem building. Her external activities include advisory roles with the Re-Ocean Fund, the City of London Corporation, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the UK charity Room-to-Read.
Marisa brings deep cross-sector expertise in:
• Sustainable finance, impact investing & ESG – designing and leading platforms that mobilise capital towards climate, nature and social outcomes within global financial institutions.
• Global banking & capital markets – three decades in investment and corporate banking, with a focus on complex client solutions and strategic advisory.
• Board governance & disruptive sectors – serving as NED for listed companies in cellular agriculture and digital communications in rapidly evolving markets.
• Global coalitions, policy & philanthropy – shaping agendas through advisory roles with international forums, regulators, foundations and high-level working groups.
She is widely recognised for her leadership, having been named by Sustainability Magazine as one of the Top 10 CSOs of a Global Corporation and by Meaningful Business and EY as one of 100 Global Visionary Leaders. Earlier accolades include being listed by the BBC among the Most Powerful Women in Britain and by Fortune as one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business.
