Stephen Moss is a globally experienced financial services leader with more than three decades of senior executive experience across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. In August 2025 he was appointed Group CEO of Commercial Bank in Qatar, having previously spent a long career with HSBC in a series of strategic and regional leadership roles.

At HSBC, Stephen held a number of senior positions including Group Head of Strategy and Chief of Staff to the Group CEO, where he was also responsible for Group M&A, Communications and Public Affairs. Most recently, he served as Regional CEO for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, leading HSBC’s operations across nine countries and overseeing growth, risk and regulatory relationships in one of the bank’s most strategically important regions. He is currently a Board Member of the Dubai International Chamber and serves on the Advisory Board of the Hong Kong Red Cross, reflecting his ongoing engagement with international business and civil society.

Stephen is recognised for his ability to translate strategy into execution at scale, particularly in environments of structural change and heightened stakeholder scrutiny. He has a strong track record in designing and delivering complex transactions and transformation programmes, while maintaining a sharp focus on culture, conduct and long-term franchise value. His leadership style is commercially focused, calm and collaborative, grounded in clear communication and a strong sense of accountability to customers, colleagues, regulators and society.

• Global banking & financial services – leading major businesses across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Americas in complex regulatory environments.

• Strategy, M&A & transformation – shaping group strategy, overseeing acquisitions and disposals, and driving large-scale change programmes at group and regional levels.

• Governance, risk & stakeholder management – serving on subsidiary boards and governance committees, managing relationships with regulators, governments and key external stakeholders.

• Leadership across cultures & geographies – building high-performing, multi-country teams and aligning diverse markets behind clear strategic priorities.

Stephen is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a BA in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Kent, UK.
