Torsten Leue
Overview
Torsten Leue is a globally experienced insurance leader whose career spans more than two decades of senior roles across mature and emerging markets. Since May 2018 he has been CEO of Talanx AG and HDI V.a.G., MDax-listed, one of Europe’s leading insurance groups, where he is driving a programme of cultural transformation and growth across multiple business lines and geographies. He also serves as Chair of Hannover Re, the DAX-listed reinsurer and one of the largest global players in its sector. Fluent in several languages and with substantial time spent living and working abroad, Torsten is known for his ability to lead across cultures, build cohesive international teams and sustain outperformance in complex, regulated environments.
Within the Talanx Group, Torsten previously headed the international retail business from 2010 to 2018, transforming the organisation through a combination of organic and inorganic growth. From 2016 he additionally took responsibility for Group Human Resources, reflecting his belief that people, culture and leadership are at the heart of sustainable value creation. His focus has consistently been on aligning strategic ambition with disciplined execution, while building leadership capability at every level of the organisation.
Torsten’s earlier career was at Allianz, where he spent 17 years in a series of senior roles in Germany and abroad. He served as regional CEO for Central and Eastern Europe and as CEO of Allianz Slovakia, gaining first-hand experience of building and integrating businesses in fast-developing markets and navigating the operational and regulatory realities of pan-European insurance. His leadership in the sector has extended beyond his executive roles: he has served as President of the Slovak Insurance Association and as a member of the Strategic Board of the European Insurance Association (CEA), contributing to the development of the wider industry agenda.
Before joining Allianz Group Torsten started his career at Deutsche Bank as a trainee.

• International growth, transformation & integration – leading multi-country expansion and organisational change across Europe and international retail markets.
• People, culture & leadership development – Group-level responsibility for HR and a sustained focus on cultural transformation and leadership capability with extensive coaching and mentoring expertise.
• Regulation, industry bodies & stakeholder engagement – former President of the Slovak Insurance Association and member of the Strategic Board of the European Insurance Association.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Freie Universität Berlin and is valued by boards, investors and senior executives for his calm judgement, international perspective and his track record of combining cultural change, disciplined outperforming growth and strong stakeholder relationships.
